Ripples of Light

Reflected light from a rippling surface of water produces a motion picture which is fascinating to watch. However, individual photographs that freeze this motion reveal a complexity of layers and patterns which cannot be discerned by the naked eye. Enhancement of these images to increase contrast and saturation brings a new world to life. Reflected objects lose their recognisable shape and take on new forms as underwater nymphs, citadels, fires, or simply intriguing designs. Different locations and varying levels of wave motion provide an endless supply of abstract images that only exist for an instant in time.
